Idspin workshops

Elemental  idspin (Limit of 12 participants)
In this five-hour workshop you will learn the elements of improvisational world, jazz and soul-song singing. In a safe and easy environment you will create beautiful improvised vocal and dance movements alone, with partners and with the whole group. We will walk in the woods, in a field, or by the water to experience the sounds in nature and integrate them into our music. This rich and invigorating form of music welcomes all levels of vocalists. If you can make sounds and move your body you can idspin. Through a series of exercises vocalist, recording artist Joanna Finch welcomes the inspirations and instincts of all participants to create unique ‘sand mandalas in song’. Joanna’s life time of singing in the sounds and emotions of the natural world brought her to discover the gifts of her gracious and inspired teacher Rhiannon, herself inspired by world renowned vocalist Bobby McFerron. Joanna continues to study with Rhiannon, adapting her exercises for idspin. For more information on Rhiannon’s work and her workshop schedule go to www.rhiannonmusic.com.

We kidspin (Limit of 12 participants)

For parents of kidspin kids who want to rediscover the fun your kids are talking about. Time to tune into the songs of nature and remember who you were when play meant freedom. Through a series of interactive exercises with your child(ren) you will learn to use animal sounds, beat box percussion and sounds discovered  in the ‘naturstra’ to make spontaneous vocal creations. Let your child guide you with her voice while you become a ‘marionette voodoo dancer.’ In this three hour workshop, these fun, family oriented games provide a basis of musical communication that you can develop and play with at home, to teach your friends and relatives, along the lines of charades or Cranium.
